Minecraft: Another platform conquered?
Written By: Papa Hedge ![]() Minecraft has been on the PC for well over a year with over Six Million sales and more than Thirty Million members registered. The game was also the highest grossing game on both the iOS and Android marketplace upon release. To say this game is a flash in the pan would be a criminal Injustice. But has the porting to the Xbox 360 really been as successful as Mojang, the game developers, had hoped for? Even in a block made world of trees, sheep and creepers, Minecraft is here to stay according to statistics released by Microsoft this week. For years the online gaming world of the 360 has been dominated by the Call of Duty franchise with the #1 most played online game being the latest release followed by the previous incarnation holding the #2 spot for the remainder of the year. 2012 however has broken that trend. Minecraft has now claimed the #2 spot for most played online game smashing the seemingly unbreakable grip of the CoD franchise. Many would say that the stats speak volumes on their own but what do you think? Every player who has both the PC and Xbox versions I have spoken to have complemented the smoothness of FPS, the natural feel to the controls and the intention to bring the console version up to date with the PC version through structured and regular updates. The drop in / drop out multiplayer system has also been a huge plus point whereby your creations are only a moment away from your friends. All in all this game has hit the nail on the head for many gamers both previous and new players alike. I for one am sure this game will last and feel just as new each time an update is released. Not played it yet? Just take a look at how many people on your friend list have played it recently....tempted now? |
